Petra, the ancient city in Jordan, is a mesmerizing destination that attracts thousands of tourists every year. As I would highly advise you to spend 2 days in Petra, where you enter once from the main entrance and the second day via the back entrance, you will have to spend 2 nights in/near Petra. Good to understand that quite some hotels are located in the nearby village of Wadi Musa, however, some hotels can be found closer to the entrance near Tourism Street. This guide provides a mix of hotels at both destinations.Β
The charming hotel Old Village Hotel & Resort is located in the nearby town of Wadi Musa and offers traditional stone cottages with modern amenities. It is designed to resemble a traditional Jordanian village and features a restaurant and terrace with views of Petra.
Costs: β¬300 to β¬350 per night
Petra Boutique Hotel is centrally located on Tourism Street, so arriving at Petra early won’t be a problem! They have a breakfast/dinner area with large windows for views over the surroundings and some rooms have a balcony. Plus: they do offer breakfast or lunch packages for take-away.
Costs: β¬200 to β¬250 per night
The Movenpick resort is a classic to many people. The hotel lobby is just stunning and the location is perfect! And well, what is better than taking a plunge in the pool after a long day of strolling around to explore Petra? An iconic hotel if you ask me and a place to never forget.
Costs: β¬400 per night
The Petra Moon Hotel was my initial favourite hotel when researching all hotel options for Petra, however, unfortunately, it was sold out. Make sure to book early! They have a rooftop pool available, and I have to say, that sounds amazing after a long day in Petra. Furthermore, they are centrally located, close to the restaurants and main entrance.
Costs: β¬100 to β¬200 per night
The Nomads Hotel is the hotel where we stayed when in Petra. It is a lovely hotel with clean and decent rooms, a bit of a backpacker vibe and an amazing rooftop area. It is located up the hill in Wadi Musa, so a car is recommended to make your life easy when visiting Petra or restaurants in the area.
Costs: β¬75 to β¬100 per night
A little bit further out and located near Little Petra (which could be a perfect location if you want to visit Petra from the back entrance) you will find Seven Wonders Luxury Camp. If you are looking for an experience during your stay, this is the place to go. You can stay in Bedouin or Dome tents for you to spend the night in between the rock formations.
Costs: β¬100 to β¬150 per night
If I would travel to Petra again, I would stay at the Rocky Mountain Hotel! Located a little bit further uphill, it is advised to have a car. From the hotel, you have a pretty good view of the sunset and a lovely traditional dinner is offered in the evenings. The rooms are a bit more basic, but they are clean and decent.
Costs: β¬40 toΒ β¬70Β per night
Near theΒ Seven Wonders Luxury Camp, there is a more budget option available: The Seven Wonders Bedouin Camp. Located near Little Petra, it is a little bit further out, but a cool experience! In the evening, you can spend your time at the shared dinner with a nice bonfire. There are shared showers and bathrooms available.Β
Costs: β¬75 to β¬100 per night
If you are looking for a hostel, Rafiki might be the place for you. They have twin rooms available, but also offer beds in dorm rooms. The hostel is located 1,5 km from the main entrance, so you need a car or have to take a cab.
Costs: β¬5 (dorm room) to β¬50 per night
