2020 is of course marked by COVID-19. I’m very grateful, I had the opportunity to still do a short trip in August and visit the south of Portugal. I only had 4 days for a holiday and the original plan was to head to Mallorca, as flight times were more beneficial. We booked 6 days prior to departure, however 2 days later the Balearics were marked as ‘high-risk’ areas and we weren’t able to travel. This is resulted in us rebooking our holiday and flight to Faro, the Algarve. Honestly, I even liked this destination better even though the holiday was shortened slightly. We had a great trip and were able to discover many places in the Algarve in a short amount of time. This overview shows you 15 photos of the Algarve, that definitely will give you an impression of why you should visit this wonderful area in the South of Portugal. Before this trip, I’d only discovered Portugal by living in Lisbon, but now I regret not spending more time in the rest of the country. Soon, I’ll publish a guide on what to do and see in the Algarve (when you only have 4 days) and share a great hike we did (Seven Hanging Valleys Trail).
