I’ve figured, when utilizing my holiday days best, I love to visit diverse countries. Guatemala definitely lives up to this term! This gem in Central America has so much to offer.
Start in Antigua, a colorful colonial city that is surrounded by vulcanoes and where the streets are full of lively markets and cafes. From here, don’t miss out on the overnight trip to Acatenango Volcano to watch the active Fuego volcano erupt continuously (if you are lucky). From here, continue to Lake Atitlán, one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, where boat rides connect the vibrant villages and you find volcanoes as a back drop.
Afterwards, head north to Flores, from where you can visit Tikal and Yaxha, ancient Maya cities full of temples arising from the jungle. End your trip with a visit to Rio Dulce and Livingston, where you can relax at the scenic river or the most beautiful beach of Guatemala.
