Day 1: Discovering Valencia’s Historic Center

Morning: Brunch & Exploring the Old Town

There’s no better way to start the day than with a proper brunch. Head to Dulce de Leche, a favorite, for a delicious breakfast filled with fresh pastries, avocado toasts, and quality coffee.u

Once fueled up, it’s time to explore the heart of the city—Ciutat Vella, Valencia’s historic old town. Stroll through the beautiful Mercado Central, one of the most stunning food markets in Europe, where you can sample fresh jamón, cheeses, and the juiciest oranges you’ll ever taste. Just around the corner, you’ll find La Lonja de la Seda, a UNESCO-listed silk exchange that transports you back to Valencia’s medieval trading days.

Afternoon: Street Art & Drinks at Plaza Lope de Vega

After soaking up the historic vibes, it’s time for lunch at La Papardella, a charming Italian-Spanish fusion restaurant with delicious pasta and an excellent wine selection where you can find a budget-proof lunch menu.

Next, take a deep dive into Valencia’s alternative side with a street art tour in El Carmen, where the walls are covered in colourful, thought-provoking murals. After having spent time exploring the city centre, it is time to slow things down. Sit down with a drink at Plaza Lope de Vega, a small but lively square perfect for some people-watching with a cold beer in hand.

Evening: Cocktails & Dinner in Ruzafa

As the sun sets, it’s time to dive into Valencia’s vibrant nightlife and head for dinner! Start with a classic Agua de Valencia at the quirky and baroque Café de las Horas, then move to Casa Pepe in Ruzafa for more craft cocktails and good (and cheap) G&Ts.

For dinner, make your way to La Finestra, a legendary pizza spot where you get surprised with some of the best pizzas in town. After dinner, explore Ruzafa’s cool bar scene—there’s no shortage of stylish places to grab another drink if you like.

Day 2: Futuristic Architecture & Beachtime

Morning: Biking Through Turia Gardens & City of Arts and Sciences

Start your day with a speciality coffee and a healthy breakfast at Bluebell Coffee, before renting a bike or electric scooter to explore Valencia like a local at for example goVLC.

First stop: Turia Gardens, an enormous green space that was once a riverbed but is now an oasis running through the city. Ride to the breathtaking Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, Valencia’s futuristic architectural gem. Whether you choose to wander around, visit the Oceanogràfic, or take cool photos, this place is a must-see in a 3-day Valencia itinerary!

Afternoon: Beach Time & Lunch with a View

From here, continue biking/driving towards Playa de la Malvarrosa or Playa de las Arenas. Relax by the sea, go for a dip, or simply enjoy the Mediterranean breeze. Depending on the time you have left, sit down at the beach and enjoy a tanning and chilling session.

For lunch, head to La Más Bonita or Boa Beach, two beachfront restaurants with dreamy interiors and fresh, summery dishes. Think smoothie bowls, seafood, and refreshing cocktails—exactly what you need after a morning of sightseeing.

Evening: Bar Hopping & Tapas in Ruzafa

Back in the city, get ready for another night out if you feel like exploring more local nightlife. For dinner, go for a casual but delicious tapas experience at Bar Los Picapiedra, where you can pair Spanish classics with a cold beer or a glass of wine and combine drinks and food. Afterwards, visit for example La Bella de Cádiz, a hidden gem that feels like stepping into an antique shop filled with eclectic decor. Then, move to Radio City, an energetic bar known for its live music and laid-back vibe.

Day 3: More of Valencia and an amazing sendoff

Morning: Brunch & Panoramic Views

After two packed days, keep things easy with a slow morning. Pick another spot for brunch from my best brunch spots in Valencia list. Next, climb the Miguelete Tower, the bell tower of Valencia Cathedral, for some of the best panoramic views over the city.

Afternoon: Pintxos & Artsy Hangouts

For lunch, make your way to Pintxo i Trago, where you can indulge in pintxos (small Basque-style bites) while soaking up the local atmosphere. This was one of my favourite places for lunch. Combine it with a glass of bubbles to celebrate an amazing trip to Valencia.

If time allows and there are ongoing events, check out La Fábrica de Hielo, an old ice factory turned creative hub featuring live music, cultural events, and a super relaxed vibe.

Evening: A Spectacular Final Night of a 3-day Valencia itinerary

No better way to wrap up your Valencia trip than with a dinner at Voltereta, Bienvenido a Bali, an unmissable dining experience! (Make sure you make a reservation upfront, preferably already before arriving in Valencia). Alternatively, you could also choose one of the other Voltereta locations in Valencia.

End the night with a visit to Apotheke, one of the city’s best-hidden cocktail bars, for a final toast to an unforgettable weekend in Valencia!

Where to Stay in Valencia

As you can already grasp from the itinerary above, Ruzafa is the perfect place to start and end the day as it is filled with amazing brunch spots as well as late-night bars. However, Valencia is relatively small and therefore easy to get around.

Some of my accommodation and hotel recommendations in Valencia are:
Blanq Ruzafa is centrally located in Ruzafa and stands out because of the minimalistic interior. This boutique hotel offers fast wifi and everything you need from a hotel. (€150)
SH Colon is located perfectly between Ruzafa and the city centre of Valencia. The amazing rooftop is definitely a plus and will blow your mind. Also, the rooms are neat and stylish. (€160)
Venecia Plaza Centro is a hotel that many travellers visited when looking at the Booking.com reviews only. You won’t find a hotel in Valencia that feels more central, as the hotel is located at the central square. Also the interior is amazing! (€188)
Host & Home: This is the perfect place when you are on a budget. This great room offers the perfect value for money, including a central location. (€90)
River Hostel: If you prefer a hostel and staying in a dorm, this is the place for you. Located near the Turia Gardens, this hostel is one of the most popular ones in Valencia. (€39)
