I’ve already published many travel blogs about Asturias, such as an overview of the best things to do, a visit to the Covadonga Lakes, a road trip along the coast and hiking in Somiedo National Park. After an overview of the most beautiful locations, it is now time for a full overview of the best hotels in Asturias.
Firstly, for a 7-day trip, I recommend staying 3 nights in Luarca, 2 nights in Llanes and 2 nights in the Picos the Europa. Nevertheless, we’ve done extensive research on the best hotels in many of the beautiful cities in Asturias, as well as the countryside. In case you have any other preferences (such as staying in Cudelirro), this full overview has got you covered as well!
My general recommendation for staying in Asturias is to book in advance when staying during July and August. Rooms get more expensive quickly and book out rapidly. Therefore, I would also advise September as the best time to travel to Asturias. Although, you have to be a bit more lucky with the weather.

An amazing hotel in Luarca is Villa de Luarca. Actually, this was the hotel where we stayed during your trip. It is located in a beautiful mansion. The hotel has a good location and is located 300 meters from the harbour. Rooms start from €65 in shoulder season.
This beautiful hotel, Hotel Baltico, is located in the harbour of Luarca and is therefore located in the middle of the city centre. The rooms are simple but neat and some do have a lovely harbour view. There is also an outdoor terrace available.
As Cudillero is a popular town in Asturias, hotel rates are generally higher. If you like to stay in Cudillero, Hotel Sol de la Blanca is a good option if you are on a budget. Rooms are basic, but the location is great and it is good value for money with rooms starting at €70 a night.
One of the best hotels to stay in Cudillero is La Casona de Pio, located in the city centre close to the coast, you are in for a treat. The hotel has a classical feel and is located in a beautiful house. Rooms start at €90 a night.
If you are looking for a hotel with the best view in Cudillero, this is your cue! Apartementos La Casa del Pintor offers the most amazing views over the popular and scenic harbour. All apartments have their own bathroom and kitchen, and therefore it is the perfect fall-out base. Book early, as they book out quickly in high season. An apartment starts from €125.
Even though villages are amazing, staying in the country side for 1 or more nights is a completely different experience. Finca Portizuelo is a great option if you are seeking quietness. A bar, garden and terrace are available and breakfast and dinner are available at the property. Rooms start at €230.
The one rural place is even greater than the other. Staying at Hotel Rural Contexos is a real experience. The rooms are amazing and the interior is great. Some of the rooms even have sea views. Rooms start at €140 dependent on the season. Make. sure to book in advance, as they fill up quickly.
My ultimate recommendation in Asturias is to stay at Apartamentos Calle Mayor 23 in Llanes. This apartment has the most amazing views from the balcony and it was a real pleasure staying here. Also, the place is in the city centre and has all the facilities you’ll need during your stay. You can book the apartment for. aprice between €100-€200.
Another alternative in Llanes is Don Paco. The hotel has a beautiful and classic vibe and is located along the city walls, close to the Sablon beach. Can you already imagine yourself sitting on the lovely terrace that is part of the hotel?! Prices for a room start at €80 but tend to go up quickly with limited availability.
Another Don Pepe hotel made it to the best hotels in Asturias list. In Ribedasella, you can find Don Pepe Ria. It is located slightly out of the main town (10 minutes walking), which makes it one of the cheaper options. Rooms start at €80 a night. If you would like to see closer to town, you can also stay at Don Pepe (rooms begin at €110), that offers a sea view!
Another good option in Ribedalsella is Hotel Verdermar. The hotel has the perfect location and a terrace to relax. The price of a room starts at €100.
Our base to explore the Picos de Europa was Hotel Picos de Europa – as the name might suggest. The hotel is in Arenas de Cabrales, a central town in Picos. The hotel is lovely and even has a swimming pool to enjoy in case you are visiting in summer. Rooms start at €75 a night.
Another option is Hotel Torrecerredo, also located in Arenas de Cabrales and overlooking the stunning Picos de Europa. The hotel is relatively small and books out quickly. You can secure your room for around €125 a night.
The final option near Arenas de Cabrales is Arcea Mirador de Cabrales, and is a great budget option. The hotel is located close to the Ruta del Cares and is therefore a great option if you would like to start your hike early. You can book a room starting at €50.
If we had decided to stay near the Covadonga Lakes instead of in Arenas de Cabrales, our choice would have gone to Ecos del Sella. This is a wonderful and modern hotel, with clean and cosy rooms. It is located 20km from the Covadonga lakes. Rooms start at €70 a night.
Alternatively, you can stay at Cerro la Nina, as this place allows you to enjoy the pool after you come back from your days exploring the Picos de Europa. This 4* hotel offers all you need, including the most amazing views. Rooms start at €75.
The final option on this list of the best hotels in Asturias is El Repelao. Located in Covadonga, this is the most central location possible to the lakes and the basilica. There is a bar with a terrace available at the property, and there are views of the Basilica! Rooms start at €70.
